1. What is Ear Coning?
Native American tribes and other ancient cultures regard smoke as a conduit between the physical realm and the higher, etheric planes. The ear candling method works as a catalyst to assist in clearing the respiratory system.
The way it works is through smoke pouring into the ear creates a reverse osmotic pressure that equalizes the Eustachian tube pressure. At no point does the tip of the candle become hot while the cone is burning. Heat is not a factor in the effectiveness of the candling process.
2. What are the Benefits of Ear Coning?
Deep relaxation is a wonderful side effect of the process of ear coning. An anti-pressure acupuncture point is stimulated inside the ear canal causing a reduction in stress. This can be a highly effective antidote for hyper-active children and over-stressed adults.
Increased clarity, keen sensitivity, enhanced focus ability, deep nerve relaxation, release of body tightness and improved body-work effects. Digestion, respiratory ailments, mucous membranes inflammation reduction, reduction in mucous, enhanced hearing ability and sensation of “lightness” in ear.
Physically, your body is initiated into a clearing process, which can cause increased pressure in the ears temporarily, fluid sensation in the ears, even inflammation of the Lymphatic system as the body enters into a deep cleansing process. Allow the symptoms to occur in this fashion and realign your cranial fluids. This clearing process leads to improved vision in sight, color and perception, improved balance, too through the subtle changes in energy flow. If there is any discomfort while these subtle shifts are happening, arrange for a follow-up coning to stimulate immediate movement and completion in clearing. Be sure to drink lots of water to facilitate the changes.
Included with these subtle sensations is the realignment of the sinus cavity, neck and shoulders, and occipital muscles. When there is congestion in the ears and sinuses, all these areas are impacted and shift considerably with the ear candling, auric cleansing process.
3. What are some of the ailments connected with ear canal that ear coning addresses?
The mucous membranes are directly connected to the ear canal. Inflammation in the stomach causes catarrh, which is a muccus-like substance that causes blockage in nerves and creates the conditions for serious illnesses. The condition of catarrh can be seen through excessive mucous, coughing, nasal congestion and belching.
Chronic inflammation caused by excess mucous and catarrh, as seen in the Eustachian tubes, leads to progressive deafness. A symptom that many experience yet unaware that ear coning can resolve and clear.
Excess fluid in the Eustachian tubes also creates a pressure on the tube. This pushes the eardrum inwards causing moderate deafness, buzzing noises, pain, discomforting the sensation of the ear being full.
4. When conducting the ear coning process, a powder-like substance can be seen, what is that? Is it coming from the ears?
Much of the residue that can be seen in the coning process is a combination of ear wax and the powder-like substance that is residue from the candles.
5. What is this tickling, clicking and itching sensation that is felt after the coning session?
Once an ear coning session has been applied, the body begins a powerful detoxification process, which is demonstrated through these subtle reactions. Your body is initiated into clearing out the respiratory tract and the waste, on all levels, emotionally, physically and mentally, is being emptied out of the body system, through the ears and its fine nerve endings.
The body communicates in a powerful way as to what is toxic, what is medicine and what is appropriate in methods, friends, and environments.
6. Can this ear coning process be conducted on a child?
A very young child does not secret much ear wax however, they can get earaches. The Eustachian tubes become blocked because the tubes are more horizontally positioned. The gentle process of the ear cone can be used by an experienced, knowledgeable practitioner to relieve pain and pressure that may be causing discomfort. Both ears must be treated to maintain a balance in equilibrium. If problems continue with earaches, check with physician concerning food sensitivities or environmental allergies. Foods such as dairy, eggs, meat, and wheat tend to create excess mucous causing ear-health problems.
7. Does ear coning benefit the elderly who may hearing challenges?
In the process of aging, secretions and epidermal debris builds up in the air and the sensitive nerve endings creating a state of dullness. Applying prepared oils of specific herbs helps to break up the blocks and clogged areas of the ear canal. Traditionally, this has been practiced by many ancient cultures.
8. How many ear-coning sessions are necessary?
Three sessions spaced out from 3-7 days between sessions is required to begin a healing process through this gentle, unobtrusive method.
Ear candling is a healing process and requires a full cycle for clearing accumulated debris. After the first session, you can comfortably apply this healing method every six months for a routine cleaning. for acute conditions, more sessions can be administered – read below.
9. How much is “too much” ear coning?
Regular Maintenance of aura and nerve endings: once a month – maybe twice a month, if needed
Disease or illness prevention: Two to three times in fall/ winter season
Acute illness: one to three applications per week for an extended period of time working with a skilled practitioner.
Chronic conditions: one to three applications per week for several months
10. Are there any reasons why someone should not use ear-coning method as a healing modality?
If a person has a broken or missing eardrum, the ear coning can cause coughing and is not helpful in the long run.
11. How does ear coning work for a child who has tubes (myringotomy)?
The best antidote for a child has had tubes placed for conditions such as chronic otitis media or middle ear infection, is to adjust their diet by eliminating dairy products, meat, sugar, food additives and wheat while ensuring a fresh-air environment free of artificial fragrances.
Tubes placed in a Childs ear to address myringotomy tends to prolong the condition and is not necessarily a method to overcome health issues concerning mucous and ear infection.
12. What are common ear problems?
Middle ear infection happens often with children and adults with acute sensitivities to food additives and excess sugar.
Eustachian tubes become clogged and have difficulty in regulating gas pressure in the middle ear, which protects the nose and throat from secretions, bacteria and fluids from the middle ear. Obstruction in the Eustachian tubes leads to serious fluid buildup and bacterial infection, causing allergic blockage with excess mucous.
Allergic reactions are the main cause for the Eustachian tubes to become blocked and cease functioning correctly. Most medical studies indicate that 85-93% of those suffering allergies are affected by both environmental air quality and quality of food causing inflammation of the Eustachian tubes and the nose. Swelling occurs and causes the difficulty in swallowing as it is felt in the mouth, throat, ears and nose. This forces air and mucus secretions into the middle ear.
The most common allergens are dairy, eggs, wheat, food additives and sugar and should be eliminated from the diet however possible. A physician can conduct a RAST allergy test to determine specific allergens, pinpointing what may be causing the discomfort and allergic reactions.
Ultimately, a healthy diet and lots of fresh air can remedy the allergic symptoms above any other method of healing.
Mold allergies is caused by Candida. Candida in the ear is felt through itching sensations in the ear, arthritis in the neck, shoulders, elbows, hands, and feeling of numbness experienced in those areas. Additionally, parasites can cause these same symptoms and are fertilized by the Candida present. Symptoms of parasites include hypoglycemia, diabetes, heart problems, arthritis, liver and kidney health issues, emotional irrationality and instability, over taxation of adrenal and endocrine system, enzyme impairment function, hyperactivity and anxiety, learning and thinking impairment.
Never endings become blocked by the fungus or yeast growing causing the nerves to miss subtle vibrational frequencies transmitted through the nerves. Yeast and fungus, both, can be considered parasites in how they impact.
13. Can I apply the ear coning method on myself?
It is not recommended that you conduct the ear candling on yourself. It is physically possible yet not easily done. Relaxation is the number one key to effectiveness of the process, first. Secondly, the practitioner who has years of experience in conducting the process and knows how to use the candles in the way they have been designed to be used, in their fullest capacity, is the only reason for applying the method. Feeling safe, relaxed, settled and allowed to enter into a quiet, deep space of surrender is the only way to experience true healing with auricular candling. Having your attention on holding a burning candle in the ear takes away the purpose for conducting the healing application.
13. Can earwax cause coughing?
Yes, ear wax can cause a chronic condition of coughing that can persist for months, even years.
Dr. Fernando Martinez, an assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan states: “We’ve found that impacted ear wax can push against a coughing nerve in the ear canal, which stimulates the coughing reflex. Many Americans needlessly cough because of impacted earwax, even up to 25 times a minute. They mistakenly believe the cough is being caused by an allergy, cold or postnatal drip and they often just let it go on and on. Anyone who suffers from a chronic cough, one that lasts for more than three weeks, should seek medical care. It’s a simple matter for a doctor to check visually if a patient has excessive earwax, then clean out the wax using a tiny scoop plus medicines to dissolve the wax and wash it away. Patients are often amazed to find that their chronic cough ends instantly after their ears are cleaned!”

14. What are the materials used to make the cones?
Strips of unbleached, natural, 100% cotton is dipped into a mixture of beeswax and herbs, which are in the form of extracts, oils or essences. The oils are chosen over dried herbs to avoid allergic reactions that some may people may experience from dried herbs.
The strips of cloth are rolled spirally, dripped and left to harden. The cones are then scraped, trimmed and plastic wrapped as pairs, one for each ear, per application to ensure balance in aura.
15. What are the metaphysical benefits of the aura candling?
The ear candling process works directly on the chakra system while it clears and strengthens the aura body. Some experience the dislodging of incarnate entities that may be causing disease, and some experience the removal of negative energies and even “bad” omens. The ear coning process allows for subtle frequencies to flow and interact with the physical body, the emotions and the soul and provides a clear channel for other healing modalities to effectively operate and impact.
The herbs used in the production of the candles contain natural antibiotics, decongestants, and balancing properties.
